Custom modules developed for construction
The modules below do not exist in standard Odoo. They were written for construction clients, and they are in production today:
Technical bids: quote generation with construction-specific calculations (quantity take-offs, coefficients, margins), linked directly to Odoo sales lines.
Price studies: an internal costing module that lets you calculate the real cost of a site before submitting the bid to the client.
Work permit management: creation, signature and archiving of permits, with full traceability by site and by contractor.
Automated reports: daily, weekly and monthly reports per site, generated automatically and e-mailed to managers. The site manager no longer compiles anything by hand.
Digital stamp: automatic application of the digital stamp to all commercial documents (quotes, invoices, delivery notes), compliant with Moroccan regulations.
The costliest mistakes in an Odoo construction project
We have seen Odoo construction deployments go wrong. The mistakes repeat themselves:
1. Deploying every module at once. In construction the temptation is to automate everything in one go: sales, purchasing, HR, project management, reporting. The result: your teams are overwhelmed, nobody really uses the system and the data becomes inconsistent. Our approach: start with the commercial chain (quote → delivery note → invoice), let it settle for three months, then extend to the secondary modules.
2. Neglecting the Moroccan accounting module. Odoo handles VAT, but it must be configured for Moroccan rates (20%, 14%, 10%, 7%) and for the Moroccan chart of accounts (CGNC). A deployment carried out by an integrator unfamiliar with Morocco may work technically yet produce non-compliant financial statements.
3. Ignoring the digital stamp. The digital stamp on commercial documents is a legal obligation in Morocco. An ERP that does not build it in creates a bottleneck: every document has to go through a third-party tool before it is sent. We develop this module for every construction client.
4. Leaving training to a single point of contact. In construction, users come from very different trades: sales, site management, accounting, HR. One training session for everyone does not work. We run sessions by role, with scenarios taken from the company's real operations.
Odoo Community or Enterprise for a construction company?
For the vast majority of Moroccan construction companies, Odoo Community is enough, provided you add the custom modules suited to the trade.

Enterprise adds value if you need Odoo-certified advanced accounting, or if your user volume justifies direct Odoo SA support. For most Moroccan construction SMEs, Community with custom modules covers every need at lower cost.
Our recommendation: start on Community, measure the real limits after three months of use, then decide whether Enterprise covers those limits better than a custom module would.
How does an Odoo construction deployment unfold?
A construction deployment follows the same steps as a standard one, with extra phases tied to the trade:
Phase 1 — Process analysis (2-3 weeks) We map your current processes: how your quotes are produced, how documents circulate, who validates what, which reports are needed. This is the most important phase — it determines what gets configured and what has to be custom-built.
Phase 2 — Configuration and standard modules (2-4 weeks) Installation, and setup of charts of accounts, Moroccan taxes, users and access rights. Configuration of the sales, purchasing, inventory and accounting modules.
Phase 3 — Custom development (4-8 weeks) Development of the trade-specific modules: technical bids, work permits, digital stamp, automated reports. This phase varies with the number of modules required.
Phase 4 — Data migration (1-2 weeks) Import of your customer, supplier and product records and history from Excel or your previous software. The imported data is checked and validated before go-live.
Phase 5 — Training and start-up (1-2 weeks) Role-based training sessions, and support during the first weeks of real use. Adjustments based on feedback from the field teams.
Total duration for a full construction deployment: 10 to 20 weeks, depending on the complexity of your processes and the number of custom modules.

Frequently asked questions
Can Odoo handle progress invoicing for construction works? Yes. We configure progress-invoice templates with the elements specific to construction: description of works, percentage of completion, retention. These documents automatically carry the digital stamp that complies with Moroccan regulations.
Can we connect Odoo to our existing accounting software? Yes, through Odoo's REST API. If you have accounting software you want to keep, we can synchronise invoices and payments without double entry. We do recommend checking whether Odoo's accounting already meets your needs — in the majority of construction cases, it does.
How many users can we have in Odoo Community? Odoo Community has no user limit in its licence model. The cost grows with the server infrastructure needed to host more simultaneous users, not with the licence itself.
Does the system work on mobile for field teams? Yes. Odoo has a responsive interface and iOS and Android apps for field features: attendance entry, inventory counts, viewing delivery notes, and daily reports from the site.
What happens if our processes change after deployment? That is planned for. Odoo is built to evolve without changing software. Adding a module, changing a workflow or developing a new feature is done on the existing base, with no migration and no starting over.
